Origin story

We shopped online on occasion before COVID, but after COVID we were forced to buy almost everything online and that's when we realized how easy and awesome it was and wondered why anyone would ever go to the store again. When you account for the travel and shopping time, wasted gas and miles, endless searches for specialty items, crowded stores, etc. it seemed like a no-brainer that we had been missing out on. With our all-in online shopping approach, we had packages coming daily. The downside was worrying about getting back home to bring them in before they got stolen or damaged by the sun or rain or eaten by critters, we tried picking them up remotely or getting them delivered at certain times but it never really worked out and it totally destroyed the convenience and savings that made e-commerce so nice in the first place. Plus, we have zero extra time and already too many errands to run with 3 kids. We were looking for a simpler and safer way. Pretty soon we became victims of a porch pirate, multiple in fact, one stole paper towels and one stole expensive headphones that I needed for a flight, which took a long time and a lot of effort ultimately to only get partially reimbursed for. At that point we started brainstorming ways to solve the problems with e-commerce deliveries. The solution had to be easy to use so drivers consistently did it, located right at your doorstep for ideal convenience, could not be an eyesore especially for my interior designer wife, and I'm an engineer so having it function in a sleek and reliable way was key for me. After hundreds of prototypes and over a year of real deal testing with drivers we arrived at our patented doormat locker design. We no longer needed to worry about getting home or making special arrangements to get our packages. We even started using it for outgoing items as well. It took a while and many iterations as the guinea pig, but the final product is such a life hack and is well worth it. We hope you can benefit from it as well.

What is the Davymat and how does it work?

The only package locker that transforms from doormat to lockbox in 5 seconds.

The Davymat is a patented doormat locker that protects your incoming and outgoing packages. It functions as a doormat when not in use and easily transforms into a locker when needed.

 

What if you get multiple deliveries from different carriers?

Your three-digit code can be shared with drivers by either notating it on the delivery instructions or by adding it to your address line (just like you would an apartment or suite). With the code, the drivers can open the locker to add their packages. If the Davymat is not yet deployed with a previous delivery, they do not need a code to use it.

We recommend creating an online account with all major carriers. You'll be able to add your code (and any other details) directly to their delivery instructions. These instructions apply to all packages being delivered to your home by them, not just the packages you've ordered. Don't forget Amazon!

FedEx | UPS | DHL

While USPS cannot use a code to access a parcel locker, they can use the mail slot located on the front of the Davymat when it's in use.

 

How do I attach the device to my porch?

It's easy! We provide construction adhesive with your order for a quick and simple glue down application.

If you're looking for added security, you can also secure the Davymat with concrete anchors or by fastening it to your door threshold. We're here to help! Does the Davymat lock?

Yes, it has a three-digit combination dial lock which can be reset as many times as you need.

Can the lock be reset?

Yes, as many times as you want! It can be easily reset by flipping the bottom switch from the left to the right (while in the unlocked position) and resetting the numbers to your new desired code. Once done, flip the bottom switch back and the lock is ready to use with your new code.

 

Can I use my own lock?

Yes, please send a request to hello@davymat.com and we'd be happy to make a Davymat without the integrated lock. You'd then be able to utilize your own lock in the eyelet of the device.

Please note that integrated locks come standard on the Davymat and you must reach out to us first for this customization.

What size packages will fit in the Davymat box?

The vast majority, about 95% of the packages delivered to the average consumer. The inside of the box measures 26" x 18" x 15" and fits a lot!

How do carriers access the Davymat?

The first delivery of the day can deploy the locker (and lock your package inside) without the need to enter any code. Any subsequent deliveries while the box is locked will require that the driver has the 3 digit code, which can be provided by putting the code in the delivery memo or at the end of the address. Can I change the doormat on the Davymat?

Yes! We will soon offer different styles that can be swapped at any time. In the meantime, you can use your own mats too! They are easily attached and removed with Velcro.

Can I use my own doormat?

Most definitely, you will however need to attach sufficient velcro to ensure it stays in place and operates properly.

 

Will the Davymat fit in front of my door?

The Davymat is designed to fit in front of all doorways that are built to international building codes - which is the vast majority of homes, but will also fit in front of most that are not built to code. You just need a flat area that's 36" wide x 20" deep in front of your doorway to set it up. The Davymat works great for houses, condos, townhomes, and apartments! It's only 1.5" tall when in mat mode, which is shorter than most doorsteps.

Can I remove and reattach the instructional placards?

Yes! The placards are meant to be removable. Once your drivers are accustomed to the locker operation you can remove the placards for a more sleek look. If you'd like the placards to stay on permanently, you can glue them on with a super glue from your local hardware store. The placards will naturally fall off over time in certain environments.

At Davymat, we value your satisfaction and aim to make your shopping experience pleasant. If you wish to return a product or request a refund, we want to ensure a smooth process for you. While we strive to minimize defective products, there might be rare instances where an exchange is necessary. Here is a detailed outline of our return/refund policy and how to proceed with exchanging a defective item:

RETURNS

Customers are responsible for the return shipping costs. However, in many situations, we are happy to provide a pre-paid return label to facilitate the return process. In such cases, the associated return shipping fees will be deducted from the total refund amount when the product(s) arrive and the refund is processed. You can return products under the following conditions:

  • The product(s) must be returned within 30 days of the original purchase.
  • The product(s) should be in new condition, unused.
  • The product(s) must be in their original packaging. If the packaging is opened or removed, a full refund cannot be provided.

EXCHANGES / DEFECTIVE PRODUCTS

If you suspect that you have received a defective product, please email hello@davymat.com for assistance. For customers who have received a defective item and wish to exchange it or request a refund, we are pleased to offer pre-paid return labels. Please note that products can only be exchanged for similar items of equal or lesser value. If an exchange results in a partial refund, it will be issued during the physical exchange process.
